Diet Plans

You want to go on a diet so you can finally lose weight and fit into that gorgeous gown you are hoping to wear in time for your sister’s big wedding ceremony.  You’re ready and determined, however, the problem is, there area lot of diet plans to choose from.  There’s an Atkins Diet that is popular amongst people in the entertainment and fashion industry.  There is also the Green Tea Diet which gets you to lose weight by reducing your calorie intake and increasing your energy consumption.  In the list is also the South Beach Diet that doesn’t totally cut out fats and carbs like other diets do.  Among all these diet plans, what I would highly recommend that actually worked for me is the Low Fat Diet.

Why I like the Low Fat Diet among other diet plans is the improvement that it brings to our health while helping us lose weight fast.  Bad fats have twice as many calories and can be a threat to one’s cardiovascular system.

As its name suggests, low fat diet doesn’t eliminate fats from your food consumption.  It just limits your consumption down to minimal amounts of the good fats, so to speak.  Trans fats are the kind that we need to avoid totally.  I am talking about the foods most of us like to snack on: pies, pastries, potato chips, muffins, cookies, and French fries!  Limit your saturated fats intake down to 10 percent as well.  A moderate consumption of the following foods is highly advised: butter, eggs and cheese.  Use canola oil instead of palm or coconut oil.  When eating in a restaurant, make sure to order salads with balsamic vinaigrette as dressing instead of the thousand islands dressing.   If you can, and you must, order foods that are baked, steamed, poached or grilled.  Avoid the fried ones.  Should in case you develop cravings for sweets, get a sorbet or fresh fruits.

Polyunsaturated, monounsaturated, and Omega 3 should be the only fats you can generously allow in your diet.  You can get these from seeds, olives, nuts and avocadoes.  Excellent sources of Omega 3 are fishes like mackerel, salmon and herring.  You can safely try dairies such as cottage cheeses, yogurt and sour cream.  Three grams or less per day of these dairies is what’s allowable.  A minimal amount of beef and poultry is also ok as long as you trim off the fat or the skin before cooking it.  Most of all, do not forget to eat a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables because this group is naturally low-fat and full of good nutrition and vitamins.

Like I said, weight reduction is not the only benefit you can get from a low fat diet; it will also let you enjoy a life of cardiovascular health.
